Earliest Memories

My earliest memories are all with my paternal grandparents when I was 4 or 5. My grandpa kept rabbits, and my grandma was so sweet - she loved to bake.

I remember my father got in a fist fight my cowboy hat flew off and someone ran over it with a car. I'm pretty sure he was drunk - driving drunk with me in the car.

I remember going with my mother to see her mother. That grandmother did not like me because I was my father's daughter and because I am allergic to cats. (She kept a cat and I couldn't stay in her home but about 10 min. before the itching and sneezing drove me outside.)

Hello, Polly.

I'm just some random commenter from the Atheist Central blog. The reason I am here is to hopefully shed some light upon a disagreement I have with one of the other commenters over at Ray Comfort's place.

You see, after you left your comment talking about your daughter with Turner's syndrome, a commenter named Vera (verandoug) had this to say in response,

"Polly,

...

I am terribly sorry for your loss. I held many of those babies years ago while they died. It is a hard thing for many moms to go through."

I pointed out to Vera that, based on your wording, you obviously were speaking of your daughter as still alive, not deceased. However, Vera insisted (based on her/his own experience with many dead babies) that she/he can safely assume that your daughter is not alive. Vera also insisted that you are an atheist who hates God.

You can follow our argument by using Find to look for instances of "Monika" in the thread.

Anyway, I thought it would be appropriate to ask you directly rather than continue with my own assumptions about your daughter. If you do not feel comfortable with the comment I am leaving here, feel free to ignore or delete it. My beef is with Vera and her/his utter lack of basic human decency.

Oh, and I am also allergic to cats (and any other furry creature). Although instead of sneezing, my eyes get seriously irritated and itchy. Tears and redness abound. Not fun, especially since I love cats. :(
